And now you can experience a little bit of Africa in Hillsborough County when Lowry Park Zoo's "Safari Africa" exhibit opens on May 28, 2004! The new exhibit will open in phases. Phase one, which will open on May 28, will feature elephants, giraffes, zebras, bongo and many other African animal species. Check out these majestic animals, which are featured in the NIE pages. Safeguarding Tampa's Shoreline Treasures - The Tampa Bay Estuary is a jewel that lies at the center of a region of more than 2 million people. Reflected in its waters are the images of diverse communities united by this natural resource and by the shared responsibility for its care. Every person in the Tampa Bay area has a responsibility and a role to play in the stewardship of this important natural resource. The Tampa Shoreline Restoration Initiative (TSRI) is a new project that will help Tampa Bay's residents get involved in taking personal responsibility for the Tampa Bay Estuary.
