An argument during a marijuana purchase ended with the shooting of 26-year-old man at a St. Petersburg home early Monday, police said.
According to investigators, Antez J. McLehan Jr. 20, of 4212 Cortez Way S., fired a .40-caliber handgun multiple times at Rashad Devar Jackson, 26. After the shooting at McLehan’s residence, Jackson was driven by McLehan to the emergency room entrance at All Children’s Hospital and dropped off, police said.
Jackson, of 5552 10th St. S., St. Petersburg, was later transferred to Bayfront Medical Center in critical but stable condition with wounds in his legs, hands and lower abdomin, police said.
Investigators said they determined Jackson had come to McLehan’s home to purchase marijuana, and a verbal argument broke out. McLehan went into his home to retrieve the gun, came back outside and shot Jackson multiple times in the driveway, investigators said.
After the shooting, McLehan and his father, who was in the home at the time, placed Jackson in the McLehan’s 2007 Pontiac sedan, police said. McLehan then drove him to the hospital.
Officers responded to the home after receiving a call about the shooting at 2 a.m.
McLehan was taken into custody upon his return to his home.
McLehan was being held at the Pinellas County Jail on Monday morning with no bail set, according to jail records. He faces charges of attempted second-degree murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
