NEW YORK (AP) - Treasury bond prices were lower at midday today.

The price of the Treasury's main 30-year bond was off 9-16 point, or $5.625 per $1,000 in face value, around midday, while its yield rose to 6.90 percent from 6.86 percent late Thursday. Prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Yields on three-month Treasury bills were quoted at 5.15 percent as the discount edged up 0.01 percentage point to 5.03 percent. Six-month yields was unchanged at 5.32 percent as the discount held at 5.12 percent. One-year yields rose to 5.59 percent as the discount rose 0.02 point to 5.31 percent.

Yields are the interest bonds pay by maturity, while the discount is the interest at which they are sold.
