Early this year, some school-spirited members of the Hillsborough High School class of 1958 decided the school needed a flag, something families could hang on their houses, such as Gators and Seminoles flags for Florida university alums. The '58 grads launched a contest for a design open to current Hillsborough High students. A panel of judges will choose the winner, and the Class of '58 will award a $1,000 scholarship to the designer at its reunion in June. "As far as we know, it's the only school flag in the county," says Sandy Ratliff Williams, who is helping organize the reunion. The flag will fly at the school, and the design could be reproduced on decals, bumper stickers and other items to raise money.
